In LittleBigPlanet, you the player control a small character called Sackboy (or sometimes Sackgirl or a Sack-person, owing to their material and appearance, which can run and jump and manipulate objects by hanging onto them. The player uses these abilities in several ways: to play and explore the environments that come with the game, which feature platforming elements such as jumping, pushing, grabbing and running, and which make use of the game's robust physics engine; to create their own content, such as simply placing stickers into levels, in addition to using the level editor to create, destroy, edit and manipulate levels; and, finally, to share creations, by publishing items such as levels and objects with the online community, and play these creations online with others. These three modes are described simply by the title's catch phrase: Play. Create. Share.

To control their Sackboy character, the player moves by using the analogue sticks, jump with varying degrees of height depending on the pressure applied to the action button, and grab onto objects to either move or swing on them. In addition to regular left-and-right movement, and despite the 2D look of the game, levels consist of three levels of depth—the foreground, middle and background—and may be traversed between either automatically by the game itself, or by the player's command. The player can opt to emote their Sackboy by applying varying degrees of delight, fear, sadness, and rage, control each arm independently through the analogue sticks, slap other players by jerking the arm movement with the analogue sticks, and use the Sixaxis motion-sensing functionality to animate the character's head and body.

Poppa-what?
A Popit menu appears when the player presses the Square button on the control pad, from this menu they can check their hearted objects or items, change the appearance of their sackperson, use or manipulate and select a sticker or decoration and active chat feature which enables them to type something via a small text bar to a participating on screen player.

The menu actually can be accessed at any point in the game, whether in mid level or in your pod (your what now?) your pod is like your personal bedroom, from here you can access the community and see news about the game updates, check your levels status and comments and obviously select story mode and my moon.

There is so much to do on little big planet that you might be wondering exactly when the fun stops and you take a break, well thats just it, the fun continues endlessly, and you'll often find yourself returning to the pod after 12 or 24 hours break saying to yourself
"What's new on LBP today" there is always something new released in terms of level design or costumes to find. "Are we going to do a dramatisation based on shakespeare?" It wouldn't be impossible put it that way. Your sackperson can be dressed up in Costumes, however rather than go too much into detail on that here I've created a whole section devoted to costumes and the hunt to find more. Just scroll up and click the costumes tab to see more.
